• Question: When we put the magnet on our earth in universe, does the earth stick on the magnet? (I learned the earth is big magnet.)

      The Earth does have a large magnetic field which is what old fashioned compasses used to use to point North. By if you put a magnet on the ground nothing really happens as the ground doesn’t have much charge. There are some rocks formed in volcanoes and deep underground that are magnetic so the magnet would stick to those!

      On a large scale the Earth is a big magnet but its quite weak so it doesn’t affect us much on the ground. It effects charged particles coming from the sun, and its also the reason we have the Northern and Southern Lights!
