      I don’t know anything about hypnotism, so I’ll show you what I do in these cases.

      Go on Wikipedia, read the introduction to the article, then follow links at the bottom of the article.

      However, the article for hypnosis is quite long and not very well written:

      It looks to me like there’s no definite answer to what happens when people are hypnotised. There’s so much we don’t know about the brain – much more complicated than physics!

      Hypnotism is a weird thing. It only seems to work if you believe it will.
      Hypnotism is thought to be when the brain is put into a state of low consciousnesses, like sleeping but you’re able to hear whats going on around you and respond to questions and instructions. However it seems to only work on some people.

      For those it appears to work on it can be used to get them to stop smoking or give them suggestions to make their life better. It doesn’t work on me though!
