I think its important because humans are intelligent. Most animals spend their life surviving and reproducing. Humans are able to survive very well and are able to raise children and do other things in the meantime. Humans have been around for thousands of years but we were hunter gatherers for 90% of it, we only settled into one place when we discovered agriculture and started cultivating plants and in the years since we have gone to the moon!. The more we discover the easier we make life for ourselves, and the more time we have to create things.

I think in this way science gives us the ability to do new things and live beyond the basic ‘survive and reproduce’ that other animals do.
