I read an article in New Scientist when I was younger and they were talking about the different types, (spiral, elliptical, irregular) and they showed some beautiful images of the spiral galaxies and then said they didn’t know why they were spirals or how they formed! They had some theories but no concrete idea and I really wanted to be one of the people to work out why. It was also around that time that Galaxy Zoo came online where people could help categorise galaxies by type and I spent a lot of time on there and I was hooked.

Unfortunately they solved the problem by the time I was doing my A-levels so I looked into other astronomy and found planets and binary stars that were also really cool!
