Fantastic question Ava 🙂 There are many interesting things, so I can’t think of the most interesting. But one is just how big it is! When you are on site there are lots of roads named after famous scientists, which the people who work there can drive down to get to their offices. There’s also a post office, restaurants, a bank and a little shop on site which is really handy! There are also many sports clubs at CERN for the people who work there to join in their free time. Also, when I first worked there, I was surprised to see people at work wearing jeans and casual clothing as I had previously assumed everyone had to wear smart clothing.

This is all in addition to the actual research that takes place there! For example, CERN was where the World Wide Web was invented and many discoveries have been made there (e.g. the discovery of a particle called the Higgs boson which gives other particles their masses). So scientists at CERN work on cutting-edge research was is incredibly interesting!

Here is a video about my first work placement at CERN, if you’d like to gain more of an insight about what it’s like to work there: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E2zOOoM5BOg

Please feel free to ask any more questions you have, happy to answer them 🙂
