• Question: If a cat's tail is cut off and sewn back on, do the nerves regenerate? If they do regenerate, on average how long does it take for them to fully regenerate?

      It depends!
The brain is a fantastic organ and if a limb is sewn back properly on it may regrow the nerves over time. But the time frame may be years!

There have been case where humans accidentally cut off a hand or foot and the reattachment has been good (and fast enough!) that they regained feeling back in the limb. This doesn’t always happen, limbs may never get feeling back, or may only get partial feeling back. It depends on many things eg: how the limb was cut off, how long was it off before it was sewn back on, were the nerves severed in a certain way.

Regaining feeling in a reattached limb can take years of physical therapy which would be difficult in a pet. So it is possible yes, but it is very dependant on the situation!
