Absolutely not — I’m in it because I think it’s very important to show students what scientists are really like, and hopefully to encourage them to learn more! If any of us win, the money gets put towards a science communication or outreach project, so no matter who ends up being the winner I’ll be happy with the result!

I don’t get to keep the money!

It would be used to help students from poorer schools to visit my lab, which has all sorts of cool science tools:
like particle accelerators and big lasers, and inspire them to enjoy science more.

I’m happy just to be taking part – I’ve learnt a lot about explaining science and hopefully told some people some interesting facts!

      Not at all,
If I win the money its going straight to a charity. I think the best way to get people interested in science is to humanise it. Talking to us gives you a chance to chat to us about our work, how we got into it, and just ask general questions. If even one student decides to go into science because of ‘I’m a Scientist’ I would be incredibly pleased!

With all the new tech and potential for AI we will eventually need a lot more coders and technology researchers so getting people into science will help everyone!

No, as the others said, the money would go to a science communication project!
I personally signed up to talk to as many students about science as possible as its important to show that we are not all old men and are (fairly) normal!
